The Escapism!
Suppose Edsel Ford’s Nerve Retreat could be your Nerve Retreat? That’s part of the future, as we’ve begun teaming up with some of the most respected businesses in our area to develop such concepts as Weekend Getaway Packages. This will provide a great escape for visitors, while helping our local business community!
The Gold Getaway Package for example, would include:
· Haven Hill Estate public tour · Horseback riding at the Crown V Ranch · Canoeing on the Huron River through Heavner Canoe · Admission to any FOHRA-sponsored events within the park · Swimming at Teeple Lake · Two-night hotel accommodations at the Waterford Comfort Inn w/Jacuzzi, pool, gym & Continental breakfast · Lunch & dinner at four of our area’s most preferred dining establishments (Billy’s Tip’n Inn, Duke’s of Highland, Perriez Milford House, Sparkies)
A variety of Getaway Packages will be posted on this page upon completion of the structures, including a stay at the “historic Hibbard Tavern - a stage coach stop in downtown Milford with a story all it’s own!”
Estate Tours
Five types of tours will become available soon:
1. Group (available spring 2010): A one-hour tour confined to Haven Hill itself and requiring a two-week reservation. 2. Public (available spring 2010): Two one-hour tours every Saturday & Sunday, confined to Haven Hill itself. 3. The Admiral Byrd (available spring 2010): A rugged exploration of the entire estate, lasting approximately three hours. 4. MP3 (available 2010): A downloadable MP3 tour from this page for anyone wishing to tour at their own pace. 5. Shuttle (available 2011): A shuttle bus tour of the entire estate.
Group & Public tours will offer some optional hiking.
Schedules & pricing will be available on our website in December 2009.
Note: The natural qualities of Highland Recreation Area play an integral and irreplaceable role in the estate’s history, and must be preserved if not for that reason alone. Thus, tourism is a means of revenue to maintain and improve the historical and natural qualities of the park, not to commercialize or destroy the beauty it provides. |
